Center on Budget and Policy Priorities:  “People with disabilities who lived in supportive housing after release from jail or prison were 61 percent less likely to be re-incarcerated one year later than those not offered supportive housing”Colorado has been a leader in Supportive Housing as have other States and for that matter Municipalities—-BUT for most people in their systems — it is NOT CLEAR these governmental subdivisions are LEADERS because the SUPPORTIVE HOUSING & INTENSIVE SERVICES are so FAR FROM SCALE.

The “Right to Shelter” helped New York overcome its homeless overcrowding problem.Could it work for LA?

NYC:

Governed by a unique right to shelter mandate, New York City provides temporary emergency shelter to every man, woman, and child who is eligible for services, every night.

This policy sets New York apart from municipalities across the nation−many of which turn homeless individuals and families away once shelters have filled up or simply put their names on a waiting list.

Hi Val,
Quick update: don’t think I mentioned this but I have been staying at the park in [deleted], Colorado since October.  I am in no condition most of the time to drag myself to the library to correspond, but I do get here once in a while.  I was telling one of my fellow park residents about Orchid the other day and just wanted to say again thanks for standing in solidarity with some of Colorado’s Least Wanted…Happy 2017!  Feel free to get in touch via e-mail if there’s anything I can do or should know…blessings!
